Austrian double

Austria 1st and 2nd in the junior world ski championships in Narvik

Magdalena Egger (19) won the downhill race in the junior world ski championships. It was a race she wasn’t going to start.

Magdalena Egger from Austria was the first athlete to win a gold medal in the junior alpine world ski championships in Narvik.

“I normally only do the technical disciplines, and the plan was not to start today. However, I did well in training and changed my mind. A good decision,” says Magdalena Egger.

She was 11 hundredths in front of her team mate Lisa Grill. The best Norwegian athlete was Unni Holm Webstad – only 11 hundredths behind the bronze winner, Monica Zanoner from Italy.

“The course was perfect for med. It was very varied, with both speed sections and more technical parts,” she says.
